Written by The Locust I really don't own any of this. Don't sue. There was great tension, though we all tried to hide it. Well, who wouldn't be a little nervous, I mean we'd be meeting God soon, and a good chance we'd have to fight her. I, being my cheerful self, decided to walk the streets (or should I say street?) of Oasis Town that night. Seems everyone had one thing or another. Peco, tired from being chased by the children had found sanctuary by a small well and was sleeping. Rei, was most likely off with one of the lady friends he had met up with when they first arrived. Momo, was busy being angry at that at the inn. I figured she didn't want to be disturbed. Garr, was also at the inn, at least he was when I had left him. It was weird, I've never seen him sleep. Of all the time we spend resting, he usually keeps watch through the night. I guess guardians don't have to sleep... Or don't have to very often. And of 'course Nina.. she is... she's... come to think of it I haven't seen her in a few hours. I looked around the street trying to find any trace of her. I smirked, and trekked back toward the inn, figuring that she had retired back to it while I was absent. I opened the door slowly, figuring maybe one of the members inside could be asleep. I heard a snort, and a rustle of bed sheets. Then the flicker of a small light, brought about by a large winged warrior. "Humph, Ryu." he says sluggishly. Maybe I was wrong when I said Guardians don't have to sleep? He got up slowly and approached me. "So, what brings you back this early, I figured you were out with Nina." "You mean she isn't here?" I asked hesitantly. He shook his head. "I haven't seen her for quite a while, I hope she hasn't tried to run away. After all not everyone has to confront God." He rested his chin in his hand, his trademark stance as he contemplated. Then, it hit me. "Nina, run away?" How could she, through all that we've been through she runs away at the end. The time when I need her most. I clench my fist and look up to my very large friend. "There's no way she could just leave. Things have been heard, and she stuck through it with me. I can't believe she would bail out on me now." "Maybe you're right, she may just be around town somewhere. Go look for her and tell her to come back and get some rest. We've got a very long day ahead of us tomorrow." I nodded and quickly turned and headed out the door. I stumbled a bit, hitting a rock. "Er.." I quickly regained my balance and quietly laughed at myself. Then I heard a soft giggle from behind me. I turned to look but couldn't see anything. "Hmm.." I stated as I rubbed the base of my chin. Then laughter, not a evil laughter, nor a funny laughter.. more of a teasing laughter. It was then I lifted my sights a little higher to see the image of a girl, Nina to be exact, sitting atop a building. I sulked, embarrassed of being tripped up by a stone. "Hehe, hello Ryu." "Ah, Nina." I walked up to the building and with one quick leap, I landed on the roof. I took as step over to her, and sat as she patted the ground next to her, inviting me to sit. "So, this is where you were hiding, eh?" "Hiding? I just came up here for some fresh air." She gave me a little smirk, and turned her head back toward the sky. "Oh," I let out softly. "You weren't at the Inn, and Garr gave me the idea that you'd had run away." I turned to look at her, then down to the roof. "Sounds kinda stupid, huh?" I gave a false chuckle and rubbed the hair behind my head. She turned back toward me, giving one of her most beautiful smiles. "I wouldn't run out on you Ryu." I blushed, she continued to smile. She wiggled over to my side slowly, getting uncomfortably close. "I was justs up here thinking.. actually. It's hard to swallow that we're going to be talking to a God tomorrow. And, if things turn out the way they're looking, we may have to fight her. It's just... I keep getting the idea that it's not the right thing to do." I looked at her very shocked. She must have been thinking things out very hard. "I gritted my teeth. "Of 'course it's the right thing to do. She wiped out my whole race, she should answer up to what she's done to us." I was really starting to sound like a leader. I closed my eyes and put on a smug smile, I liked the feeling. "Humph." Uh.. maybe I wasn't that good a leader after all. I opened my eyes and turned to look at her. She had repositioned herself to look away from me. 'Shit..' I tried to think of a something to say. I didn't have to think long, she already started. "Ever since I was little, I've thought of Gods as all-knowing. Now we're questioning her, it feels like we're barging into her house and demanding answers." I was getting a little nervous, was she gonna bail out on us? "Well.." It was then I noticed she was crying. I had made her cry. The one person who had stuck with me throughout this whole ordeal, is now weeping because of my words. I'm a real jack-ass. "Agh.. sorry Nina, I shouldn't have lashed out at you like that." I reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder. She immediately shivered from the contact, but soon got used to it. "I could see this is hard on you Nina. You don't have to stay with us if you want, I'm sure one of the villagers would guide you back to Dragnier." She suddenly jerked around, immediately wrapping both of her arms around me in a semi-tight embrace. I swallowed hard, not really having too much experience with this sort of thing. So, I just went with what came natural and put my arms around her. She started to talk between sobs, at first I couldn't understand what she was trying to say, but soon it was audible enough for me to hear. "Just wanna, be with you. That's why, *sniff* I've struggled to fight along with you.. *sniff 2x* why I've fled from the castle, twice." She removed her face from my shoulder, her bright blue eyes staring directly into mine, my god those eyes. They really couldn't have been more amazing. "I've followed you because, I'm in love with you." My stomach instantly tightened up. Of 'course I've noticed her feelings towards me, i'd have to be a fool not to. I figured it was just a crush or something along those lines. And of 'course.. I, I have feelings toward her as well. But it coming out so blatantly is hard to recover from, and with the little experience I had on this subject I could only think of one thing. "Uh.. fishing." Yes, I stupidly responded by saying, 'Fishing'. "What?" She asked, tilting her head a little bit. How could I have been that much of an idiot, to respond to a 'I Love You' with 'Fishing'? It had to be clarified quickly. So, grabbing her shoulders quickly I pulled her face up to mine. Our lips touching lightly, my eyes only an inch from hers. She pushed it further, tightening her grasp around me, making the kiss official. I saw her close her eyes, then following her lead I did the same. Our limbs holding onto each other for what seemed at the time 'dear life'. The kiss excellerated into a passion filled lust. Our mouths opening for one another, tasting each other. After a few, we both parted back a few inches, our eyes opening at the same time. I whispered "I love you too." She smiled, and rested her head back on my shoulders.
